My new Dogri poem "Buntar" ( Dr. Chanchal Bhasin ) translated by Prof. Sudhir Singh
"Knitting"
Whenever in the sweater of relations,
I start knitting a pattern of words
Tangles start engaging me.
Some big stitches, some small
Persecute me.
Stitches, that drop time and again
Don’t allow the pattern go astray.
Repeatedly do I pick them,
The dropped stitches ,
Unstitch , re-stitch them
With those needles
Which were skilled once
Now rusted.
Like the poles
With glossy surface,
But noisy inside
Yet bearing with, though
Unwillingly , with a heavy heart.
How strange is the knitting pattern, design
Of relations!
That gives no warmth
Heat doesn’t heat
Smolders.
Yet have to be carried on, borne with
A new pattern needs to be located
By picking the dropped stitches,
Reducing them, increasing some times
With tireless efforts .
From among those stitches, even then
A stitch drops itself from my needles!!!!!
